Staff at Sainsbury’s Chaddeston, sold home-baked cakes to raise money for Hand on Heart!
Last Saturday 28th July, staff at Chaddesden Sainsbury’s had a fantastic fundraising day for us, holding a cake sale. Hand on Heart is the supermarket’s local charity partner and is committed to help fund Automated External Defibrillators (AED) to be placed in schools.
Staff at the store nominated themselves to bake cakes for the sale and then volunteered their time to set up in the store’s foyer from 10am-2pm. They were joined by Emma from Imperative Training, who are big supporters of the charity. They managed to raise a massive £243 from the sale, with all the proceeds going to Hand on Heart.
Around 270 children die at school each year in the UK as a direct result of Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) and at Hand on Heart our aim is to make this number a thing of the past. Our continued support and fund-raising from our Sainsbury’s stores allows us to work to see our aim become reality.
The amount raised will go directly to funding a full defibrillator package for a nominated school, which contains the unit, accessories and CPR training for up to 8 members of staff. It also comes with an online work-plan that both teachers and students can incorporate into their studies to learn more about the dangers of SCA. Our aim is create awareness about the deadly killer that claims the lives of 12 young people in the UK every week.
We would like to say a huge thank you to all the Sainsbury’s Chaddesden staff that gave up their time to help and also to the store itself for allowing us to have the sale!
