Since winning an incredible £10,000 from the Big Lottery Fund, we can now proudly say that we have been able to create 13 Heart Safe schools in the Cumbria area by funding life-saving equipment for them to have accessible on their grounds.

The Big Lottery Fund is responsible for giving out 40% of the money raised for charities and good causes by the National Lottery. The money is split between charities and organisations to help them continue with their hard work in making their local areas and the UK a better and more safer place.

Thanks to the grant, we have been able to equip 13 schools in Coniston and the surrounding area with life-saving AEDs. An AED is the only definitive treatment against Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA), a cardiac event which claims the life of 12 young people each week in the UK.

Below is a list of schools which received defibrillator packages, fully funded through Big Lottery Fund and Hand on Heart Charity.

  • Goodly Dale Primary School, Windermere, Cumbria
  • Ambleside Primary School, Ambleside, Cumbria
