dept education

This morning the Department for Education announced a deal for schools to purchase life-saving defibrillators to have on their premises at a reduced rate.

This new scheme will hopefully allow schools to become equipped with a life-saving device, which is the only definitive treatment against Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA).

Since winning an incredible £10,000 from the Big Lottery Fund, we can now proudly say that we have been able to create 13 Heart Safe schools in the Cumbria area by funding life-saving equipment for them to have accessible on their grounds.

Earlier this week, Melissa Smith a 15 year-old girl from Lancashire collapsed and died following a Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) whilst playing in her local team Cadley FC. Despite CPR and a defibrillator being used at the scene of her collapse, she was taken to Royal Preston Hospital by an ambulance where she was then pronounced dead.
